FACE BRICK TEXTURES

The texture of the face finish can vary from smooth to textured and plays a significant role in the overall look of your project.

FACE BRICK CLASSIFICATION

In accordance with The South African National Standard (SANS 227:2007) for burnt clay face bricks.

FBX

FACE BRICK EXTRA

FBX is the golden standard of bricks. They can be used for both exterior and interior building projects where a high degree of perfection is required.

Clay bricks that are selected or produced for their durability and high degree of uniformity of size, shape and colour.

Tolerances in work sizes (L) (W) (H)

  • Individual Unit - 5mm, 3mm, 3mm

  • Average Dimension - 2.5mm, 1.5mm, 1.5mm

  • Warpage - 90% of the units to have warpage of 3mm or less. No unit to exceed 5mm warpage

FBS

FACE BRICK standard

They can be used for all general masonry projects. Tolerances are not as strict as with FBX bricks but the brick is still of a high quality.

Clay bricks that are selected or produced for their durability and uniformity of size and shape.

Tolerances in work sizes (L) (W) (H)

  • Individual Unit - 7mm 4mm 4mm

  • Average Dimension - 3.5mm 2mm 2mm

  • Warpage - No individual unit to exceed 5mm warpage

FBA

FACE BRICK Aesthetic

Wider tolerances are allowed on FBA bricks (also called semi-face bricks). They are a popular choice where a rough or more rustic look is required.

Clay bricks that are selected or produced for their durability and aesthetic effect deriving from non-uniformity of size, shape, or colour.
